Is this an annual Dolby Vision Trims license requiring renewal?
No, this is a perpetual license that does not expire. This is a one-time purchase.
Can I use the Dolby Vision Trims license on multiple machines at my facility?
Yes, you may install the Dolby Vision Trims License and Professional Tools on multiple machines in the same facility. The terms and conditions indicate that you cannot install the license outside of your physical facility. If you have multiple locations around the city, state, or country, you are required to purchase separate licenses for each facility location.
Do I need a Dolby Vision Trims License if I’m just a QC house?
It is not likely that you need a Dolby Vision Trims License. Typically, a QC house can use the built-in Dolby Vision mapping process and the free Dolby Vision Professional Tools (Metafier, Mezzinator, etc.), which is freely available for download on the Dolby Customer portal here. You will need to create a Dolby Customer account to access and will be able to download the most current version there. You may wish to purchase an eCMU license if you require that external hardware mapping or HDMI tunneling process.
How can I receive Dolby Vision content creation technical updates?
During checkout, please check the box stating “I agree to receive limited emails on software updates and/or upcoming technical webinars related to Dolby Vision” in order get the latest information on Dolby Vision content creation tools and new feature updates.
When will I receive my Dolby Vision Trims license after purchasing on the Dolby Professional Store?
After the checkout process is complete, your Dolby Vision Trims License order is subject to review which may take up to 7 business days and will be released upon compliance with all applicable laws. Please plan accordingly. The file is very small, so the download itself is not a lengthy process.
Are there temporary Dolby Vision Trims licenses to test?

How do I install the Dolby Vision Trims License?
Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve:
Import the license key by choosing File > Dolby Vision > Load License, and its successful installation will enable the Dolby Vision palette to be displayed on the Color page. You will need to restart Resolve for this to take effect. Please note the “load license” button will be greyed out in Cut/Delivery workspace.
Some Resolve for Mac customers report issues loading their license file. You can get around this by renaming it “license.bin” and copying it to Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/DolbyVision.
Filmlight Baselight:
To install the license, rename the file to “dolbyvision.lic” and copy it into the /vol/.support/etc folder on the Baselight (Linux: /usr/fl/etc/; Mac: “Library/ Application Support/FilmLight/etc/). Close and restart the application if it’s running, as it only checks for the license on startup.
Digital Vision Nucoda:
To install the license, rename the file to “DolbyCM_License.bin” and copy it into C:/Nucoda/License.
SGO Mistika:
To install the license, rename the file to “dv_license.bin” and copy it into C:\Users\*your_user*\SGO AppData\localshared\dolby
Colorfront Transkoder:
To install the license file, copy it into C:/Program Files/OSD2018/license
Autodesk Flame:
To install the license file, double click on the HDR FX and click on “Setup.” Then click the “Install License” and select the license file.
Will I need to update my trims license for a new version of Resolve or Baselight?
The Trims license activates controls and functionality in the third-party color grading and mastering systems. Software upgrades and config files are delivered through the third-party solution. In rare cases, when updating to a new version of Resolve, you may need to re-install the trims license. You will not need to get a ‘software’ update of the license itself.
What if I have technical support questions about how to use the Dolby Vision Trims license and controls?
We recommend taking the self-guided Dolby Vision Post-Production Learning or attending a live, instructor-led Dolby Vision Training.* We also recommend you search your question on the Dolby Vision Post-Production Knowledge Base or the Dolby Vision Post-Production Forums. If your question is not covered there, you can contact us.
*You will need to create a separate Dolby Professional Store account to purchase instructor-led Dolby Vision Training.
